WELCOME TO SILVERY MOON STUDIOS

Sculptural thoughts on nature, contradiction, and humor ~ in forged steel and stone ~ by Jay Hoagland

My media of choice are stone, forged and welded steel and wood but porclain, glass, brass and bronze have found their way in from time to time. I’m inspired by natural science with an injection of humor and contradiction. Inspiration, however, comes from a variety of sources; the trials of life, the shape of a stone, and the work of giants like DaVinci, Calder, Giacometti, Gabo, Hepworth, Noguchi, and Moore. There is also much fertile ground in myth and dogma.

I see my work as a catalyst to understand, and a lens to clarify, my place in the world.
